Overview
In collaboration with Freeman Ryan Design, Lightwell created a suite of multimedia for the new Visitor Experience at the RFDS Dubbo Base.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is a large-scale ‘control room’, consisting of four-metre-wide projections and ten secondary screens, showing a live map of RFDS plane positions, aerial footage, statistics, plane profiles, and more. Working with RFDS staff and the rural community, we also created an eight-minute documentary depicting the experiences of three people who have been helped by the RFDS.
Other interactives within the space include touchscreens showing RFDS base locations, airstrips, staff profiles, an aeromedical retrieval process animation, and an interactive 3D King Air; a 2-metre projected touchtable displaying interviews with people who live in rural and remote places; 360-degree iPad apps, which allow visitors to look around the inside of an RFDS King Air aircraft; and augmented reality iPad apps which play interviews with staff describing their work with RFDS.
