Overview
Commissioned by the Parramatta Heritage Centre, this video installation reveals the unique cycle of the Parramatta River and the effects of flood events in the area.
The video projection was created from footage that was recorded on the river and its tributaries over the course of a few months.
Shots of waterbirds, eels, plant life and the surface of the water in its different moods, as well as archival footage of previous floods were developed into a dynamic collage that continually flows across a wave shaped screen.
Situated in front of one of the gallery’s main windows, the installation allows visitors to see the different temperaments of the Parramatta River whilst simultaneously viewing the actual river beyond.
