Overview
Lightwell created two touchscreen interactives for the Australian Museum’s new permanent Minerals gallery. Identifying Minerals allows visitors to run a series of tests on unknown minerals to identify them, including tapping minerals to observe how they break, spinning them to see their lustre, and shining a UV light to reveal their fluorescence. Making Earth’s Crust is a single-player game that challenges visitors to collect the correct elements that make up the 10 most common minerals in the Earth’s Crust. After playing the game, visitors can enter a high score and find out more about each mineral. Both interactives were designed to be fun, contemporary, colourful and scientifically accurate.
